Underground Elephant, a digital marketing company located in downtown San Diego, has continued its efforts to support San Diego youth by opening up the 2017 Summer Internship Program.
SAN DIEGO – June 13, 2017 – Jason Kulpa, CEO of Underground Elephant, an award-winning digital marketing technology company located in downtown San Diego, announced today the launch of its summer 2017 internship program focused on recruiting and mentoring young talent in technology driven careers.
Underground Elephant has always embraced interns and has even hired them as full-time employees, what makes this year’s program different is the shift in focus from basic entry level skills to developing more advanced, career-focused capabilities in young professionals. This year, UE interns will be mentored with emphasis placed on developing skills that will help to advance them toward their desired careers. The program is designed to break the mold of the typical internship structure and to push interns to perform tasks outside their comfort zone. Intern at Underground Elephant
“Our interns have always walked away from UE with valuable lessons, but I felt we could better serve them by digging into long-term career goals and tailoring a program specific to them and not necessarily UE,” said Jason Kulpa, CEO of Underground Elephant. “The best way to know if a job is right for you is not by doing the entry level tasks, rather by doing managerial-level tasks that require strategic thinking and experience. By focusing on interns’ individual needs we are investing in the next-generation of tech talent and hopefully long-term members of the UE team.”
Since its founding, Underground Elephant has been actively involved in San Diego’s technology and entrepreneurial communities, focusing on the recruitment and development of young professionals. Ensuring young professional interested in tech careers maintain their enthusiasm for innovation and technology is engrained in the firm’s greater mission. Earlier this year, UE worked with students from a number of high schools and universities to emphasize career advancement and professional development. Students were afforded the opportunity to tour the UE office and hold Q&A sessions with UE professionals in their desired career fields, touching on everything from coding and software development, to marketing and sales tactics.
"In my time at Underground Elephant I have been given a multitude of tasks that are both challenging and exciting,” said Janet Marquez, Underground Elephant Intern. “This internship has given me the opportunity to explore a variety of areas that hold my interest. While I receive specialized attention, all of the employees have been more than willing to help me gain the experience I seek within their diverse job titles."
