Recent polling affirms Corpus Christi health insurance consumers have a strong desire for maintaining health care provisions that are included in plans provided by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Corpus Christi health insurance consumers join the majority of Americans with regards to health insurance patient protections. They believe it is “very important” that they are included in federal and state health insurance laws.
A recent poll conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation reveal over 75% of Americans are in favor of health insurance provided through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) retaining provisions that prohibit health plans from denying coverage for individuals with pre-existing conditions or an extensive medical history. Also, an overwhelming number of respondents are against health care providers charging ill patients more for coverage.
The positive news is that these views are bipartisan. Whether Republican, Democrat, or Independent, Americans seem to be in agreement that the provisions currently in place are improving health care, even for those without pre-existing conditions. The ACA, or commonly known as Obamacare, was passed into law in 2010 as an alternative to universal healthcare coverage. Currently, health insurance in Corpus Christi does not provide an exchange that is state-based. Residents are required to use the federal-run website HealthCare.gov. However, consumers can also utilize an independent agent, broker site or company to enroll directly into Obamacare and still receive financial assistance the law provides.
Rick Thornton, a Corpus Christi health insurance agent, believes the poll results are significant. “Insurance providers and government officials are increasingly hearing what consumers value. These provisions have been a lifeline for many consumers and I believe will be a staple for health insurance moving forward,” he stated.
The fresh insights come as the nation begins preparing for Congressional midterm elections in November 2018 and both sides of the political spectrum are hoping to leverage healthcare ideas to garner voter enthusiasm. But the fact that the country as whole desires specific health care provisions suggests consumers should expect to see health plans provided that better meet their overall needs.
