If you care for a senior family member or someone with a disability, you may be eligible for financial support under the SFC program – call Home Nurse Inc (770-765-1111) to apply!
Caring for a loved one is a noble cause. But, sometimes we all need a helping hand - and the Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) Program was designed to lend a helping hand to family caregivers in Georgia. If you care for a senior or a person with a disability at home, you may be eligible to receive financial support and caregiver training. Home Nurse Inc, a senior care agency based in Griffin, is here to help you apply.
“Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) is a new Medicare service which offers coaching and financial support to primary caregivers,” said Home Nurse Inc CEO Miranda Roberson, RN. “Applicants need to satisfy a number of requirements, including living in the same home with the person who receives the care,” she added.
To be eligible under Home Nurse Inc’s program, you must also be 18 or older and be biologically related or related through marriage - spouses and legal guardians are not eligible. Your eligibility will also depend on your employment status - if you have employment outside the home or operate a business from home you will not qualify for support under SFC. Another important requirement is that the person receiving the care must be eligible for Medicaid in Georgia and be a participant in the CCSP or SOURCE waiver program.
If you check all those boxes, you're doing well so far. But there are a few more things to check off your list.
The SFC program also has some specific criteria for the type of services that you can provide to qualify for compensation. These include housekeeping, meal preparation, dressing, personal hygiene, medication management, and other tasks of daily living. That should be easy though - it pretty much covers all services caregivers normally provide.
For your application to be successful, you must meet ALL the requirements. And if you do, you will get weekly compensation and health coaching from Home Nurse Inc's team of nurses. Yep, on top of getting paid, you will also get some guidance on how to care for your loved one.
With the SFC program, Home Nurse Inc hopes to improve both your and your loved one's quality of life. Founded in 1983, the agency provides personal support assistants and skilled nurses in the greater Atlanta area. Led by Miranda Roberson, RN, Home Nurse Inc has partnered with a number of Georgia Medicaid Programs, including the Community Care Services Program Waiver and Georgia Independent Care Waiver Program.
