Health insurance in Arlington isn’t as affordable for the majority of Americans as one might think, leading many to believe that private health insurance isn’t doing.
Arlington health insurance is facing a nasty trend in recent months that proves an increasing number of Americans cannot afford to see a doctor or pay for healthcare and necessary medication, even as statistics continue to show that the Affordable Care Act has expanded its access to health insurance and the number of people who have it continues to rise.

According to US NEWS a new study shows that health insurance in Arlington is far too costly for the average American in comparison to two decades ago. Of people who remained uninsured in 2017, the study found almost 40% said they had been unable to see a doctor in the past year because of costs; that compared with roughly 12% of Americans with health insurance. The trend, researchers say, is likely due to the decline in private health insurance, which has led to higher deductibles and co-payments. On top of that, patients have noticed that the number of in-network providers on their plan is shrinking. Many times, they are unaware that the doctor they are seeing is no longer in-network until it is too late — leading to additional costs no one saw coming.
Rick Thornton, a health insurance agent in Arlington reminds everyone that even though it appears that private health insurance isn’t doing what it is supposed to do, we’d be worse off without it. In fact, there are still plenty of benefits to the ACA, he says. Health insurance continues to experience falling costs for average premiums. Obviously, this is a good thing for the consumers who can afford it, as they don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for coverage. The same data shows that 8.3 million Americans have signed up for coverage this year. This is only a 2 percent drop from last year.
