Are you ready to start a new career doing something you’ll love? The Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy (647-247-2481) can teach you everything you need to know to become a certified aesthetician and open your own business, in just a few months.
Did you know that in Canada, you can perform medical aesthetic procedures, without a medical license?
Okay, maybe that's not too surprising - you shouldn't need to be a rocket surgeon to do laser hair removal, but I was surprised that you can get certified for some pretty neat procedures.
My personal favourite? Cool Sculpting.
That's one serious operation, in my opinion, but with the right courses, you can get fully certified to help reshape the physique of paying clients, safely and effectively, in only a handful of months.
I don't know what job you're doing now, but I doubt it's as cool as helping people to look better, feel better, and feel better about how they look.
Here's where it gets even better though - the courses I'm referring to, don't just teach you how to work at a medical aesthetic clinic - they teach you how to open your own business, and run it successfully. It's all part of a day's work at the Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy.
Unfortunately, now that I've told you the name of the school, you have the option to just ignore the rest of my blog, and go straight there. Well fine, be that way. You can find them at https://dermysk.com/pages/academy
You're still here? Excellent, then let me tell you about your options - because there are some things you should know, before you apply.
Courses are available at Basic, Advanced, and Master level, and each one includes training and certification in up to a dozen medical aesthetic procedures, as well as modules that cover dealing with customers, and how to handle complications. If you're new to the industry, you probably want to start with the Basic course, which has been optimized to help new students begin a new career, or a new business as an aesthetician, and can be completed in as little as a few months by dedicated students.
The thing is, if you stopped reading my blog and jumped straight to their website you may never know this little fact - you don't have to take the Basic course, or the Advanced course, to get fully certified. More on that in a minute though, first let's talk about how their hybrid courses work.
They use a combination of online learning and practical training, which allows you to complete most of your course from home, at your own pace, before attending the practical training sessions at the Academy. During this one-week hands-on training portion, you get to work with real tools, first on simulated clients, then on real people, so you can get real experience.
The Basic training program will get you fully certified to perform a bunch of common aesthetic procedures, including radiofrequency rejuvenation, acne treatments, and laser hair or tattoo removal. You will also be given access to the Dermysk Academy’s after-graduate support, which can help you to further improve your skills or access career opportunities.
So what do you need to get started, before you can enroll in the Basic course?
Practically nothing. Seriously.
The Basic course has no prerequisites other than a high school diploma or some form of relevant job experience - though, enrolling in the Advanced training program requires either 5 years of industry experience or graduation from the Basic training.
What if you don't want to do a Basic course, or a Basic and then an Advanced course, what then? My advice, would be to enroll directly in the Master course - if you've got the guts.
It includes all of the Basic and Advanced skills, as well as exclusive training not available elsewhere, and it's not for the faint of heart. If you want to take this course and get all your training, all right now, you really need to be dedicated and sure of your chosen career path.
If that sounds like you, then I wouldn't recommend any other option, here's why.
Graduates of the Master level training will receive a Master Of Medical Aesthetics certificate and will be fully trained and experienced in even the most complex procedures, aside from injectable cosmetics. That certificate isn't just a piece of paper, it's a key that will let you unlock new business opportunities anywhere you go - because it's not something many people have, even in this industry.
Now, if you were paying attention, you might have noticed that I mentioned injectable cosmetic courses that you can't take... sorry about that. While the Dermysk Academy does teach several courses which cover injectable treatments, these programs are restricted to licensed nurses, physicians, and medical professionals - so unless that's you, you're out of luck.
That's okay though - you can always upgrade in the future, if that's where your career is taking you. For now, I want to share one more pro tip.
Always check the reviews. For example, I looked up reviews for the Dermysk Academy in Toronto, and wow.
It didn't take me long to realize that they're pretty much all 5-stars, and the students have great things to say.
Here's one example from a recent graduate, who explained, “I have to say the new staff are amazing. Everyone seems very knowledgeable and they want to ensure you have a great experience. My instructor… took time to explain and teach us everything that will help us succeed in our future careers. Very impressed with my experience.”
When you're ready to upgrade from a job to a career, or to start training to open a new business, the Dermysk Academy is a pretty good choice.
It won't take you 4 years to finish your training, and you'll be fully certified and ready to go, right after your course.
