A quick story about how Jacquie Branagan set up the first Official Irish event certificate service for Irish communities around the world.

The idea for creating Birthsdeathsmarriages came about after the founder was involved in Irish community forums around the world. She noticed that people of Irish lineage were struggling to obtain official certificates to verify births, deaths, marriage. etc. She then chose to do this work for these people and act as a middle man for obtaining the certificates and posting them out to the customers. Birthsdeathsmarriages's plans to to help Irish and wannabe Irish obtain fast tracked official certificates needed for various forms of government documentation in a secure manner.

Birthsdeathsmarriages was a lightbulb moment when the founder heard about the problem. She knew what she had to do to solve it. A month later, the website came, and that was the beginning of this amazing business. Consisting of a team of just the founder herself and a freelance website developer. working on it, which is considered small by industry standards. This goes to show how Irish communities around the world, no matter how far away, are there for each other to help..

In 2018, she was approached by a lovely young American lady who was seeking to know the Birth Date of her Great Grandfather, the man who is responsible for her Irish Heritage. He had gone to America at a young age, settled and had his family but never forgot his roots. This is evidenced by the strong sense of Irish pride in his Great-Granddaughter, the lovely Jeannie. After Jeannie’s attempts, without luck, to locate a Birth Registration for him, the founder was delighted to assist her on what can only be described as a quest of the heart. She felt it was important to honor her Great-Grandfather, Michael, by erecting a headstone in his name. His grave had not had a gravestone because nobody knew his Date of Birth and critical information. Without that, it would have felt incomplete. After much searching the founder did manage to uncover his Birth Certificate and the answer to why it could not be found became plainly obvious… When Michael was born, Births were verbally reported for Registration by either a parent or local midwife. Often, the spelling of a name was open to interpretation and because of this, errors were made. Birthsdeathsmarriages found him registered under a different spelling which was similarly pronounced to his own name. An ecstatic Jeannie called the owner from the States to share her relief that it had finally been located, she was at last able to lay a gravestone over Michael’s place of rest. Birthsdeathsmarriages then sent the Certificate of his Birth out to her that day and the gravestone was laid!.

Jacquie Branagan is quoted saying: "We like to connect with our consumers. Things like Irish community Facebook groups, Instagram, email, phone, & sharing experiences are what make all the difference."
