Hold on to your pumps mamas! We've found a revolutionary new device that is giving hope to tired and overwhelmed breastfeeding moms. The Nurture Breast Massager, an innovative accessory that works with your breast pump to help you get better results, just hit the market in January. If you are an expectant mother who plans to breastfeed or currently breastfeeding you should definitely pay attention. This new product promises to make a tremendous impact on breastfeeding moms everywhere.
We all know the proven benefits of breastfeeding on the health of mom and baby, but there are numerous factors that make nursing and pumping too difficult for many new moms to sustain. With the physical demands of being the primary food source for your newborn, like exhaustion, ravenous hunger, dehydration and pain, and the psychological and logistical challenges such as the scheduling nightmares and amount of time you dedicate to being a milk machine, it's actually pretty amazing to think about how many moms are successful despite all of their sacrifices. But there are some challenges that compound the stress and strain on these already overwhelmed mamas. Things like low milk supply, clogged ducts, and mastitis are all too common and can be the proverbial straw that broke that poor camel's back, derailing your plans and goals for breastfeeding.
So, what's the Nurture Massager got to do with it?
The founders of Imalac and their team of moms and lactation experts had first-hand experience with the problems that breastfeeding moms universally experience, and felt that these moms deserved a solution. After three years of research and development, the Nurture Breast Massager was born. Nurture is a first of its kind tool that addresses many of the biggest challenges that cause women to 'give up the pump' before they had planned.
Designed to simulate hands-on pumping, the Nurture Breast Massager works with almost any standard electric breast pump to provide gentle, compression massage and has been clinically proven to help improve milk supply, increase the nutritional content of expressed breastmilk and relieve the discomfort associated with clogged milk ducts and mastitis.
While manufacturers continue to develop and introduce new products every year, none have truly addressed the problems that cause many moms to fall short of their breastfeeding goals. The CEO and Co-Founder at Imalac, Inc., Noreen Sablotsky, makes a point of saying “The Nurture Breast Massager is the first product that tackles some of the biggest pain points that contribute to new moms discontinuing breastfeeding."
Sablotsky continues... "In an industry that has seen minimal advancement for decades, we set out to develop an innovative solution that dramatically improves breast pumping results.” Noreen, a scientist and entrepreneur who was first introduced to the concept of hands-on pumping while working with a biomedical accelerator in Israel. At the same time, her daughter and Imalac’s Co-Founder, Rachael Kish was breastfeeding her first child. “I noticed my results while pumping were drastically increased when I used my hands and manually massaged my breasts,” says Kish.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that women exclusively breastfeed for the first six months after birth. Although 85% of new moms start breastfeeding, only 25% meet the 6-month milestone, according to the CDC’s Breastfeeding Report Card in 2018.
With the majority of women working full time outside the home, breast pumps have become an essential tool for them to continue to provide breast milk to their babies when away and unable to nurse. However, pumps are inefficient and cumbersome, and concerns about milk supply and painful complications like clogged milk ducts and mastitis add to the stressors and demand already put on new mothers.
“Ultimately this is going to be a huge benefit to our customers because it will help them pump more milk with more fat, reduce the time it takes to pump, and relieve the discomfort that comes with clogged ducts and mastitis," says Kish.
Imalac, Inc. was established in 2017 and continues to build a community of breastfeeding moms and lactation professionals that share the common goal of support, encouragement, and education.
