Businesses and nonprofit organizations with no more than 500 employees are eligible for the PPP through June 30, 2020. Businesses must have been in operation, with employees, on February 15, 2020. Unlike traditional SBA 7(a) loans the CARES Act waives the requirement that a business show that it cannot obtain credit elsewhere. No personal guarantee or collateral is required. Borrowers must certify that they will use the funds to retain workers, maintain payroll, or make lease, mortgage, and utility payments.
See the SBA website for the full language of the RELIEF ACT.
