PROSTAID Calgary’s October support group meeting for those struggling with prostate cancer is set for October 16, 2024, and will focus on updates regarding ClarityDX Prostate, a machine learning predictive diagnostic tool that facilitates informed decision-making.
With a recognition of how devastating a prostate cancer diagnosis can be for you and your family, the regular monthly meetings provide a forum for networking, sharing resources, and learning about advancements in the field.
Statistics from the American Cancer Society show that about one in every eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, although risk factors may vary according to age, ethnicity, and other aspects. While you're dealing with cancer, PROSTAID Calgary offers a number of resources and opportunities.
“Our objective is to assist and support patients, families, and friends by informing, empathizing, and reassuring men on their journey with prostate cancer,” says a representative. “By sharing our experiences with our own cancer we lift our spirits and strengthen our resolve to fight for quality of life and a cure.”
Each monthly meeting features prominent health specialists and includes an opportunity for you to catch up with other cancer warriors or connect with peers. At the October 2024 meeting - which can be attended in person or online through Zoom - you'll have a chance to hear from Sean Secord, from Nanostics. Sean will provide updates on the cancer and biopsy work that Nanostics is currently doing with Clarity DX Prostate, as well as other initiatives.
In addition to monthly general meetings, PROSTAID Calgary facilitates specialized groups for Warriors and Wives & Caregivers. The organization offers a monthly journal - the Digital Examiner - which is sent to over 1300 subscribers and contains useful resources and information.
The PROSTAID Calgary website contains updates on current cancer research, information about treatment options, and further support resources for men with prostate cancer and their loved ones.
To participate in the 16 October 2024 meeting, you are encouraged to RSVP online, or to attend in person at the CKE Community Centre, located at 1015 73rd Ave. SW, Calgary.
