Project Runway Chekesha Johnson is excited to take this show on the road and bring Fashion Showdown to Atlanta to help creators move closer to their dreams.
Founder Chekesha Johnson is taking her highly anticipated designer competition on the road with its first stop in Atlanta, GA, on November 4, 2022. Sponsored by MogulCon, the annual Fashion Showdown will take place at The Whitley Luxury Hotel located at 3434 Peachtree Road Northeast Atlanta, GA 30326. Local designers will showcase their talents for a chance to win cash prizes and a trip to New York Fashion Week. Contestants will battle to capture the eyes of the elite panel, including Dish Nation's TV personality and radio host Gary With Da Tea, 7X award-winning celebrity designer Pilar Scratch, celebrity designer Timeekah Murphy of Alani Taylor CO, and media mogul Jiggy Jones. Berry Dynamic will host Fashion Showdown. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with the show promptly beginning at 7:00 p.m.
"I wanted to create a space for designers to not only show off their line but feel a sense of accomplishment for all of their hard work," Founder of Fashion Showdown Chekesha Johnson states. "There's more to a fashion show than just sending models down the runway. We wanted to create a showdown where their designs are truly appreciated and remembered."
Fashion Showdown was launched in Houston by New York actress and model Chekesha Johnson in 2018 after being featured on three seasons of Project Runway. Johnson is excited to take this show on the road and bring this opportunity to Atlanta to help creators move one step closer to their dreams. The celebrity judges will evaluate the contestants based on creativity, presentation, and quality of designs. The lucky winner will gain exposure in the fashion industry, receive a career-changing reward to the Big Apple, and cash prizes to start their new collection. In addition, The One Million Dreams Foundation For Black Women & Girls Inc. will sponsor a Delta Comfort plus round-trip ticket to New York for the winner.
"I've worked with some of the top brands in the industry like Neal Hamil Agency and State Management," Johnson states. "The Fashion Showdown is my way of giving back to my hometown and sharing my expertise to support the future innovators in this city."
Johnson has over 20 years of modeling and acting experience. She's been featured in over 75 brands and commercials, such as Aveeno, L'Oreal, Whataburger, Essence magazine, Nike, JC Penny, and many more. This year, she will introduce her Queens Foundation nonprofit to benefit low-income minority youth. The 501c3 will offer programs related to performance, arts, leadership, mentorship, self-confidence, and clothing drives.
