This latest charitable initiative is in partnership with Play It Green, an organisation that plants native trees in Madagascar to offset the company's carbon emissions and help fight climate change.
Carbon offsetting is widely used by businesses and individuals looking to reduce their carbon footprint. Trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and convert it to oxygen through photosynthesis, thereby reducing the effects of global warming. By pairing with Play It Green, The Chelmsford Guide are playing their part in reducing their impact on the planet.
As well as tree planting, part of the profit is donated to the homeless charity Shelter, which is working to rehome people and end the impacts of the housing emergency in the UK.
The Essex-based app aims to be the ‘go-to’ resource for Chelmsford residents like you who want to find information and updates about their local area. The app is free to download and provides you with information about local services, various events occurring across the city, local radio stations, community groups, youth organisations, and volunteering opportunities.
It also provides local businesses with the opportunity to advertise services to the community: for £87 per year, organisations can list their address, contact information, social media links, photographs, and other marketing content for you to see.
The guide also contains a blog, regularly updated with information about Chelmsford businesses and events for you to find out about what’s going on in your hometown.
The close-knit company was created by Chelmsford residents who grew up in the area. The company's headquarters are situated in the heart of your city.
A spokesperson for the company said, “we want to provide you with information and updates that are always at your fingertips and only ever a 'tap' away.”
