With healthcare providers increasingly using telemedicine consultations over the past 12 months, the new service is aimed at bridging the gap between remote medical appointments and the need for physical examinations or procedures.
The global pandemic saw an unprecedented implementation of online medical consultations, as many physicians sought to protect the safety of patients by preventing person-to-person contact.
However, in many cases a verbal discussion is not sufficient to fully diagnose or treat a person’s condition. Ambulnz’ services now provide the in-person medical attention required to fully inform telemedicine patients and healthcare providers.
Having more than 1,500 staff in eight states and across the UK, Ambulnz was well positioned to create two new ventures: Rapid Reliable Testing (RRT) and TeleHealth+.
RRT now operates in 26 states, and was designed to provide comprehensive testing solutions in response to the global pandemic. The service completed more than 500,000 tests in its first few months of operation.
Working under the guidance of Dr. Mark A. Merlin at MD1 Medical Care PC, TeleHealth+ offers a wide range of non-critical medical services to patients in their homes.
The solution covers procedures including rapid testing and blood-work, pre-operation testing, pulse oximetry, saturation, ultrasound, and wound care.
Comprehensive cardiac care is also provided including blood pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, echocardiogram, and electrocardiogram (EKG).
Over 30 oral and intravenous medications are also available including antibiotics, asthma treatments and intravenous fluids.
TeleHealth+ also covers a range of preventative medical services. Providers can administer vaccinations including influenza, hepatitis, pneumonia, and tetanus, as well as medical reconciliations and physicals.
Ambulnz was founded in Southern California in 2016 and now operates a fleet of over 300 eco-friendly vehicles. The company currently operates in 26 states and has plans to continue expanding its coverage.
Speaking about the pandemic and the new services, Ambulnz CEO and co-founder Stan Vashovsky stated: “We used the opportunity to seek ways to leverage our national footprint and highly skilled field staff, and provide new services to better meet public health needs.”
