David Cavazos of DC Heating And Cooling says there are three very important things to keep in mind when it comes to making sure a family's heater is working. "First thing to consider is a unit's filters and how dirty they are. It's amazing how many costly repairs could be avoided if the filters throughout the house could just be changed regularly. Second, make sure the thermostat is working properly. Often times, a home's heating unit may be working fine, but the thermostat has gone out, is reading incorrectly, and shows the house warmer than it actually is. Sometimes, even, it may show that it's colder and continues to put out heat even though the house is warm enough. This can put great wear and tear on a unit and will skyrocket a home's energy bill if it's not kept regulated. Thirdly, if a heating unit does need repaired, it's better to do it sooner rather than later. Having a family stuck in a frigid house can not only ruin someone's holidays, but it can lead to health problems for the entire family. Have a certified technician that is trusted and review come take a look at it as soon as possible."
