Swiss hydrogen therapy company Dr. Hydrogen | Wasserstoff-Inhalation & Therapie Schweiz has announced that they are now providing green hydrogen to the home-use industry with new sustainable sourcing techniques.
Dr. Hydrogen | Wasserstoff-Inhalation & Therapie Schweiz Founder & Managing Director Michael Back has announced that the home hydrogen therapy company has developed new sustainable hydrogen sourcing and Brown’s Gas production technologies and techniques that they believe have positive implications for the growing hydrogen therapy wellness industry.

Although their team, under Michael Back, is committed to expanding the use of hydrogen therapies in Switzerland and beyond - and to increasing the accessibility of these treatments - they believe the negative environmental impacts of hydrogen production
in the industry. As the team at Dr. Hydrogen explained, while hydrogen itself is abundant, isolating it requires significant energy, and, given the high price tag associated with this process, many smaller companies - like their own - have been reliant on gray hydrogen, where the hydrogen is produced from natural gas without the carbon produced from the process being captured.
As such, they are pleased to be advancing the use of green hydrogen in the home-use hydrogen therapy industry by switching to green hydrogen. This type of hydrogen is produced through electrolysis, using renewable electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. The team at Dr. Hydrogen then recombines this clean hydrogen with oxygen - in another specialized electrolyzing process - to create their therapeutic product, which is commonly called Brown’s Gas.
As Michael Back said on behalf of Dr. Hydrogen, “It is important to Dr. Hydrogen to use modern equipment to produce our Brown’s gas and to use advanced materials such as stainless steel and special membranes to make electrolysis more efficient. We are also investing in technologies that integrate special catalysts to minimize energy consumption and maximize production. The quality of the gas produced can be controlled by adjusting parameters such as voltage, current and electrolyte composition (often potassium hydroxide).”
Dr. Hydrogen hopes that their successful adoption of more sustainable practices, within the financial constraints of a smaller business, will showcase that hydrogen therapy can become both a genuinely healing and sustainable practice.
Michael Back added, “This year, we partnered with leading research institutions to ensure that our products were always based on the latest science, and our mission to make the healing power of hydrogen accessible to all continued to gain momentum.”
Dr. Hydrogen was established in 2018 with the mission of sharing the therapeutic benefits of hydrogen. Originating as a modest initiative in Germany, they have since become a leader in the field of hydrogen therapy in both Germany and now Switzerland, where they are currently headquartered. The company continues to make scientifically researched hydrogen-based products widely available to the public.
