Located just two miles north of downtown in North Asheville, owners Tony Creed and Ralph Lonow refer to the restaurant as an 'Upscale Neighborhood' dining experience with its cozy, intimate setting.
Having been in the hospitality and restaurant industry for many years, Tony and Ralph purchased the restaurant just before the pandemic after considering opening a wine bar. Tony and Ralph, along with Chef McLeod, have been in the hospitality and restaurant industry for many years, having worked with several reputable establishments, including Ruth's Chris, the Richmond Hill Inn, and Husk Restaurant.
Avenue M is the only sommelier-owned restaurant in Asheville - a city oversaturated with breweries - and stands out from the competition with its large selection of wines and scratch kitchen. They consecutively received the Wine Spectator Award for the last two years, a testament to their commitment to quality.
Tony has a passion for hospitality and a strong commitment to bringing fine dining to the neighborhood. Since becoming a father of two, Tony has learned to cultivate patience which has been a great asset in running the restaurant. In addition, he and Ralph are proud to partner with the YMCA for their local charity events and are committed to the culture and community of Asheville.
The restaurant is family-friendly and boasts a dog patio. Customers have spoken highly of the restaurant, describing it as an "exceptional date night" with "outstanding food and service" and a "family-friendly atmosphere." One customer said: "We enjoyed a fantastic date night at Avenue M. Our server Miranda was very knowledgeable about the menu. The wine list is extensive, and the cocktails are fun variations of some good classics. We loved everything we ordered - we were told the chef also makes all of the desserts and ice creams and enjoyed both the apple pie and espresso chocolate cake with beet ice cream."
