Start a new career this spring as a medical aesthetician in Regina, with the Dermysk Academy (306-910-3204). They’ll teach you everything you need to know, and give you hands-on experience, with a unique training course that lets you learn at your own pace.
Did you know that medical aestheticians are badly needed in Regina, and throughout Saskatchewan?
The experts say it's because there's been a boom in business since the pandemic ended, but personally, I think it's because people care more about their appearance in a place that's so flat, you can see them coming from miles away.
Whatever the reason is, there's never been a better time to start your training - especially since a new Academy is only a few kilometers away, in Emerald Park.
The Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy can help you to get started as a new student, or they can help you to upgrade your skills if you're already certified.
The most surprising thing though is just how much you'll learn, even from their basic course. Check out their website to see the full list of courses, and all the treatments you can get certified for. Just visit https://dermysk.com/pages/academy
The Academy offers 6 unique courses, all focused on the field of medical aesthetics. As a new student, you can begin with a comprehensive Basic Medical Aesthetics Course, and it only requires a high school diploma or relevant work experience as a prerequisite.
Not sure if you qualify? Just give them a call and ask, they don't bite - and you might be surprised.
The Basic course covers everything you need to know to begin providing a wide range of treatments to paying clients, including an overview of the legal and regulatory considerations, and basic business strategies. You will also learn about the biology of hair and skin, and the physics behind laser hair removal, photorejuvenation, and pigmentation.
That's because the teachers at the Dermysk Academy want to do more than show you how to do the work, they also want to make sure that you understand the science behind it, so you can become a real expert in the field.
While the basic course provides certification for several popular procedures, it also acts as the prerequisite for the Advanced Medical Aesthetics course, which includes training in Body Sculpting. Of course, you can also access this course without previous certification, but only if you have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Aesthetician.
I mentioned body sculpting specifically because it's one of the hottest treatments available today... or should I say coolest? If you haven't heard of it, it's worth taking the time to look it up. This non-invasive treatment can help you selectively shape your client's physique, by removing unwanted fat in carefully chosen areas, using nothing but cold temperatures.
The advanced course also focuses on micro-needling, stem cell treatments, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and laser gynecology. They will also teach you about managing complications caused by either health concerns or difficult clients, and some individualized business strategies.
I know this sounds like a lot to learn - but it's easier than I'm making it seem. It is a lot of information, but Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy uses a combination of several teaching styles, designed to maximize your education and practical experience, while still allowing you to learn at your own pace.
Each course will include training modules that can be completed at home, at your convenience, as well as some combination of in-class learning, and hands-on training with actual clients.
The exact combination of learning styles, prerequisites, and amount of in-person training required varies from course to course, and you can find all the details on their website. As an example, new students taking the Basic course can expect to receive 7 training modules to complete at home, as well as 1 week of hands-on training from a specialist.
A spokesperson for the Academy explained, “At Dermysk, we offer small class sizes with adequate one-on-one attention from instructors. You’ll experience individualized practical training to make sure you master the treatments at your own pace. Our courses will make you ready for real-world practice on day one after graduation.”
