Not only is the book, fun, colorful, interactive and entertaining, it's also helping out a great cause. When Nathan and Keven McTaggart set out to publish this book the intend was to tell a fun story, but also wanted to help. And because the story features a firefighter helping Santa, it would be nice to help firefighters. As a result, the net proceeds from the book will be given to the BC Burn Fund. The Burn Fund helps survivors of fires across British Columbia and advocates education on the prevention of fire, and injuries due to fires. Nathan and Keven also run the Young Burn Survivors Camp for youth between the ages of 6 and 18. The camp provides young burn survivors with an opportunity to share experiences with their peers.
The inspiration for the book came in December of 2009 when Nathan was three years old. At the time, was visiting City TV's Annual Food Bank Friday in Vancouver when a firetruck pulled up to the event. The truck captivated Nathan. That night, while getting ready for bed, Keven and Nathan came up with the idea for Santa and His Super Hero.
