Fort Worth health insurance future depends on how high court rules on ACA

Oct 12, 2020

Rick Thornton, a health insurance agent in Fort Worth, agrees with analysts who say the nation’s highest court could rule in one of three ways when the lawsuit hits their desk in November. In other words, the ACA may survive.

Fort Worth health insurance appears set to face sweeping changes, as the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg could mean the end of the Affordable Care Act come November’s court hearings. Depending on who takes her place, those who oppose the ACA could finally get the big lawsuit win. But new information out in the media today suggests that all is not completely lost for the ACA. In fact, the nation’s highest court could rule one of three ways.

Here are the three ways the high court could vote: A majority of the court may still uphold the ACA. In other words, it will survive and live on for years to come. This seems unlikely since there would likely be a majority in red state-appointed judges, but it is a likely-hood nonetheless. A second option would be a deadlock — postponing any judgments. This would really become a possibility if a new justice is not seated by then. However, the President has already named Ginsburg’s replacement, and an appointment should come soon. The third and final possibility that could affect those with health insurance in Fort Worth is that the ACA is overturned — in whole or in part. Though many people predict the ACA will be struck down entirely, this option is not out of the realm of possibility.

Rick Thornton, a Fort Worth health insurance agent, agrees with the latest news and says anything can happen when a lawsuit reaches the court system. Americans should take this latest news seriously and pay attention to how things shake out with the court. The decision, whether it is for or against the ACA, will affect the insured, uninsured, and nationwide insurers everywhere. Time will tell exactly what will happen with the court’s ruling, he said.
