Rick Thornton, a Frisco health insurance agent, echoed statements from a recent USA Today article that said the new rule is expected to draw in another 2.81 million people to enroll in Medicaid over the next five years.
Frisco health insurance and the people who have it can expect to see an easier enrollment process moving forward, per a recent rule from the Department of Health and Human Services. As reported on first by USA Today, the HHS intends to make enrolling in government healthcare programs easier for low-income kids, disabled people, and older adults by reducing red tape and other significant process changes. Per USA Today, the proposed rule streamlines applications and standardizing policies and requirements across states for Medicaid, Basic Health Programs, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). HHS made its announcement official at the end of August.

If implemented, the new HHS rule is expected to draw another staggering 2.81 million people to enroll in Medicaid over the next five years, the report said. Naturally, this new rule will also have sweeping, albeit positive, implications for individuals and families with health insurance in Frisco. For example, children covered by CHIP would no longer face pre-enrollment waiting periods or lifetime benefit limits. Accessing Medicare Savings Programs would be simplified for low-income seniors and some with disabilities. Renewals would also be an easier process, limited to once every 12 months moving forward.
Rick Thornton, a Frisco health insurance agent , pointed to a quote in USA Today by HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, who said in a statement, “Medicaid and CHIP provide essential health care to millions of families across the country, and we are making it easier to enroll children and others in health insurance and to maintain coverage. With these steps, we’re delivering on our promise to make high-quality healthcare more accessible and affordable for all Americans.” Thornton said time will tell how this plays out but added this is another positive step toward affordable and easier healthcare for all.
