The Nantucket event will be the first in a long list of appearances for Harvey following the release of “The Summer Of Songbirds”. At this particular event, you will be able to hear Harvey and Hilderbrand discuss their influences, processes, and personal literary philosophies in a casual setting, primarily focused around Southern Fiction as one of the great homegrown American genres.
“The Summer Of Songbirds” will be Harvey’s first release since “The Wedding Veil”, her 2022 celebration of Southern romance. That title received rave reviews upon its release, and this upcoming launch has shown early signs of another success for Harvey, garnering overwhelmingly positive early accolades.
According to a synopsis by Harvey, the book weaves a multi-generational narrative surrounding a North Carolina summer camp heavily inspired by those that Harvey frequented as a child. As trouble brews for the owner of the camp, those who enjoyed their time there as adolescents now work to save it, even as their own adult lives interfere.
The novel is said to contain the same driving forces of female friendship and love that give Harvey’s other works their signature charm. This book also promises to take a distinctly more intense look at the interpersonal relationships within, with a dramatic yet ultimately heartwarming overtone that early reviews have lauded as a new and interesting direction for Harvey’s work.
One such review stated, “Harvey reminds us that sisterhood can take many forms…With a strong dose of nostalgia and multiple narrations from Daphne, Lanier, and June, the book will appeal to Mary Kay Andrews and Katherine Center fans, who will revel in the support the women demonstrate for one another.”
If you are looking for a heartwarming yet engaging read for your summer book list, this is the one for you. Dropping in the heat of July, it promises to make the perfect poolside companion as you enjoy the sunshine.
Attending the upcoming Nantucket event is free, with seating available on a first-come-first-serve basis. More information and a full calendar of upcoming July tour dates is available on Kristy Woodson Harvey’s website.
