Our improved packages include focused discussions on issues that could be affecting today’s youth, including eating disorders and depression and anxiety. Experts have noted that the former, especially, is slowly becoming a silent global pandemic, with an estimated 30 million Americans suffering from some form of eating disorder, such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating.
Despite these statistics, you may be stigmatized about talking about your condition with a professional. This has led to thousands of Gen Zers openly discussing their anorexia or binge eating on various social media sites such as TikTok and Instagram.
While helpful in its own way, it is still recommended to speak with a teen mental health coach about issues surrounding your well-being, including eating disorders. Several studies have shown that if left untreated, anorexia or binge eating can contribute to depression and anxiety.
It is a snowball effect: Having an eating disorder makes you feel ashamed to talk about your condition, causing depression which affects your food intake.
Christina has written a article covering eating disorder and social media which can be read here: https://www.tapinto.net/towns/westfield/columns/ask-maria/articles/more-teens-are-struggling-with-eating-disorders-thanks-to-the-pandemic-and-social-media
Here, you are empowered to reflect and notice any self-limiting behaviors and thought patterns that could be contributing to your food disorder. Specifically, we create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly discuss your condition without fear.
Please schedule your appointment with us at least a day before your intended date. In-person sessions are available every Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Virtual coaching is available every day of the week.
