The Solo Female Traveler Network was created to empower women to travel solo. It began as a community on Facebook, cultivating freedom, confidence, and a celebration of empowerment that breaches the glass ceiling.
Now it has grown into a profitable business offering solo group tours to women. The first was to Bali, and the event double sold out, so a second villa was required. The company has gone from strength to strength until the pandemic detailed the travel industry.
Now, led by Amanda Black, the company has shifted perspective and added a new element. A brand new membership platform and community has been launched that features travel courses, expert-led workshops, and seamless networking opportunities.
While most businesses are folding under the pressure of the pandemic, The Solo Female Traveler Network has used its resources to grow and adapt.
New members can sign up today for access to an engaged community, travel courses, workshops led by experts, and events with fellow solo female travelers. Once travel kicks up again, members will have access to a safety net right at their finger tips, in case something unexpected happens on the road.
The team states: “We wanted a space where a DM from a stranger isn’t considered spam, where we can see who is in our same city and meet up with more safety assurance, and to create an environment of empowerment and learning. So we made one.”
Events are available both virtually and in person when restrictions are eased. Members meet for happy hours, movie nights, travel chats, country-specific travel planning sessions and more.
Workshops cover food, wine, culture, politics, history and a wide range of other topics hosted by accomplished women.
Amanda Black is based in California, but has traveled for eight years. She started the business when her hostel room was broken into in Mexico, and everything was stolen. She vowed that no other female traveler would need to experience that vulnerability.
