The new digital collectibles will be available as short videos, showcasing highlights of upcoming games between the 15 Serie A clubs that have partnered with OneFootball. While 5 clubs are not included in the new partnership, footage of their gameplay may still be included when they are competing against clubs that are included in the new deal.
Though the new NFTs will primarily focus on highlights of current games, Serie A has also allowed OneFootball to produce video highlights from their archives of past games. The NFT videos will be packaged similarly to trading cards, with each package containing a random selection.
Also similar to traditional trading cards, the digital assets can be traded on the Aera Marketplace, so you can complete sets, or acquire video highlights of specific games. Chiliz News explains which teams will be included, and which teams have separate agreements with OneFootball or other NFT distribution firms.
Video highlights have become increasingly popular around the world, after finding success with fans of the NBA. OneFootball has also become the official distributor of NFTs for the German Bundesliga soccer league, and has recently secured an additional $300 million in funding.
