If you're looking for the best decorative ceramic art, David Andersen's sublime ceramic spheres may be exactly what you need.

His hand-built spheres are created using a proprietary technique which takes hundreds of hours of work, and range in designs from inspirational to abstract and other styles.

David uses a 16-step process to create high-quality ceramic spheres with a variety of unique designs and multiple decor and lighting applications.

The process begins with a detailed drawing on spherical pre-gridded paper or on an actual sphere template, and continues with molding two pieces of clay into a sphere, as well as compressing and shaping the sphere.

David then carefully carves the sphere to achieve the desired design, a step which may take up to 140 hours to complete.

Finally, once the carving has been completed, David fires the pieces then glazes them to create the desired color combination, a process which may take another 120 to 160 hours to complete.

David’s newly updated collection includes three spheres in his Signature series, ranging in price from $3,800 to $4,800. They can be used as standalone decorative pieces, or as light features both static and on a turntable, and are guaranteed to enhance any interior space.

With the latest announcement, David Andersen continues to create unique ceramic art inspired by his passion for the perfection of the sphere.

A skilled bricklayer for more than 34 years, David has transitioned to becoming a full time ceramic artist in 2004. Though he has incorporated a series of masonry techniques into his ceramic art, he focuses exclusively on creating handcrafted ceramic spheres.

Commenting on the popular “Jack of all trades, master of none” statement, David said: “I have been one to focus on the concept of being a master. My focus is simply on hand building spheres, to the extent that my connection to such reaches a level of intimacy. Often when I do Art shows other ceramic artists imply that my spheres are slip-cast, I inquire as to why they think this is so, they reply because they are so exacting. I find this very flattering in that none of my work is slip-cast nor could I execute this exactness by using that process.”
