The announcement outlines a renewed focus from the Ontario government to make it easier for international entrepreneurs to start businesses in the wider Toronto area. Immigration intakes over the last couple of years have seen priority given to other groups but recent statements from the legislature have called for a doubling of the current Federal nomination allocation.
EICS reports that the entrepreneur project is likely to generate around $20 million in business investment, creating thousands of jobs in the process. The initiative will bolster recruitment across a range of sectors including tourism, IT, and life sciences.
You're required to invest a minimum of $200,000 into your chosen business. The program hopes to stimulate investment not just in Toronto itself but beyond the urban centres in areas that often get overlooked despite their potential as profitable markets.
You can now benefit from an improved nomination process for applicants via an expression of interest system. You'll also get support to help you attract and retain top talent for your business – particularly in more rural areas.
