From their cozy bistro at 178 West Houston Street, Delice & Sarrasin is pleased to be expanding their plant-based menu and bringing you more comfort food choices, taking their inspiration from some of the classic stews and slow-cooked dishes of traditional French cuisine.
While there remains a lingering perception that vegan food is always light, and that plant-based is synonymous for a raw food diet, the head chef at Delice & Sarrasin, Yvette Caron, believes vegan fare can be equally hearty, and that it can perfectly recreate nostalgic dishes without the use of meat.
This is the idea with which she has developed the new additions to her menu, and she has some new highlights she is sure you’ll love.
The bistro recommends rich and warming dishes like Caron’s version of Boeuf Bourguignon. This completely plant-based delicious stew brings you in-house artisan-made vegan ‘beef’ that has been slow-cooked in a spiced red wine sauce with caramelized onions, carrots and fingerling potatoes.
A recent review of the dish by the food bloggers at ‘I Just Want To Eat’ said the presentation of the Boeuf Bourguignon was “rustic and appetizing” and the experience “comforting”, and their review concluded by saying they had never been this excited by a vegan restaurant before.
If you are looking for an equally comforting, familiar and nourishing meal, Caron also recommends her exquisite new Cassoulet Toulousain to you. This hearty casserole uses white beans alongside her plant-based version of the iconic Toulouse sausage.
At Delice & Sarrasin, you can also enjoy a new selection of comforting appetizers, desserts and sweet and savory crepes.

In addition to creating more warming and comforting dishes, the kitchen and front-of-house teams at Delice & Sarrasin are also committed to creating a completely welcoming atmosphere for you that balances the gourmet food experience of fine dining with the charm and color of a family-run venue.
A spokesperson for the French vegan bistro said, “Our family-run Manhattan restaurant is committed to creating a truly comforting plant-based dining experience where dedicated vegans, curious foodies, or simply someone seeking a taste of traditional French cooking in a compassionate way, can indulge in the rich heritage of French gastronomy.”
The Caron family, including head chef Yvette, welcome you to try their new comfort food highlights. The restaurant is open for brunch, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
