The trust explains that there are over one billion illiterate adults in the world today. This is a staggering number in today’s world, and to be illiterate today can mean living in a hostile and confusing environment.
Illiteracy closes thew doors of opportunity, especially when it comes to finding work. Unfortunately, it also opens the doors to oppression and abuse of the poor.
The latest venture from Save The Mothers Trust showcases the work from charity donations from Bradford and the local areas in the UK. They are helping to provide better education projects in Africa to cut the numbers of illiterate people in the world and more.
Save The Mothers Trust currently sponsors and supports 42 different schools, which helps over 3,500 students. An integral part of the development program run by the charity is to promote self sufficiency and independence through education and training.
The charity believes that in order for a community to become independent, the community itself requires good foundations. This means establishing good academic education from the ground up.
Through helping to provide for children in need, the charity can help those young learners to grow into the professionals of tomorrow. These educated adults can then go on to become assets for the region.
Save The Mothers Trust has been helping people in Africa for over a decade. In this time, it has saved lives and helped over 10,000 people.
Along with its educational goals, one of the primary aims is to construct small maternity wards in villages where many women and children die due to the lack of skilled midwives.
