Chef Joey Morelli, the charismatic chef behind Max’s Deli in Highland Park, has set out on an ambitious new venture: bringing culinary education and food awareness to orphanages around the world.

Chef Joey is building a lasting partnership with Hope For the Silent Voices, a nonprofit charity that offers support and resources to vulnerable women and children around the world. Through this partnership, Joey’s Food Fight provides kitchen equipment and cooking know-how to support the health of children in orphanages.
In a 2019 study on childhood nutrition, UNICEF reported that entertaining messaging provides a lasting and positive effect on children and caregivers. Building on that concept, Chef Joey creates fun content on YouTube and TikTok that raises nutritional awareness and highlights the culinary arts. With Joey’s Food Fight, Chef Joey is bringing his message of laughter and nutrition to orphanages in person.
Joey Morelli is a long-time chef, restauranteur, and passionate philanthropist. He recently visited Central Ukraine to provide food for families impacted by the war. In Chicago, Joey is also a Board Member for StandUp for Kids where he provides meals for shelters three times a week.
Joey’s Food Fight began in Cambodia where Chef Joey taught children in an orphanage to shop for and make healthy meals on a limited budget. He also helped outfit the kitchen with modern appliances.
