Dec 19, 2024

Home Care Advisory Group has a new focused support service for New York families seeking new assistive technologies via the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).

Home Care Advisory Group has announced a new technical support division that is now helping families and patients in New York who need new and cutting-edge assistive technologies to be provided, funded or partially subsidized by the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities.

The New York-based care group has identified a dearth between patients and families, available technologies and funded support services in the state of New York which they hope to rectify with their new technical division.

With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2024 reflecting a concerted shift towards technologies that can support individuals living with disabilities, and with the recent rise in AI-powered assistive technologies—including AI hearing aids, assistive voice solutions, eyesight technology, social aids, and more—Home Care Advisory Group has identified that many patients and their families are not aware of the new technologies available that could meaningfully enhance their quality of life. Nor are they aware of available coverage or funding for such technologies.

As such, alongside previous support OPWDD services—like accessing their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) Supported Employment Program (SEMP)—Home Care Advisory Group’s technical division will offer expertise in both assistive technology and OPWDD access.

Abraham Kadymir, a Senior Care Manager at the group, said, “We believe that better access to technology and home modifications can significantly improve the quality of life. From communication devices to environmental controls, these resources provide essential support for daily living.”

With this focused service, Home Care Advisory Group hopes to also continue decreasing the hospital readmission rate and emergency room visits of the patients who use their care and care-related support services.

Mr. Kadymir added, “Navigating the OPWDD system may seem complex, but doing so is vital for gaining access to the full range of supports offered. We can support you in navigating the OPWDD services and maximizing the benefits for your loved ones.”
