It's that time again, so load up the kids, and don't forget the water bottles.
Soccer season is coming around, and that means it's time to register your tiny teammates, before the tryouts next month. It's super easy, all you have to do is answer some basic questions online about how to contact you, and their level of experience.
I'm getting a little ahead of myself though - and that's just one of the announcements I've got for the upcoming season.
The Villarreal Houston Soccer Academy has announced several important dates for the upcoming youth soccer season, a continuation of their ever-popular summer camp program, and, in case that's not already enough, they're also going to offer another immersive soccer experience, which allows two players to spend a week in Spain, with the original Villarreal CF Academy.

Tryouts for the Villarreal Houston Soccer Club will happen between May 22nd - May 24th at the Fall Creek Sports Complex, in NE Houston. Both boys and girls are welcome, as long as they were born on or between 2009 - 2018.
It's okay if they're not multilingual - the soccer club doesn't want any language barriers causing problems, so they'll have UEFA Licensed Spanish coaches on-site, just to help out.
If you haven't heard of the Villarreal Academy in Houston, it's one of several international academies run by Villarreal CF, which provides young players around the world with the opportunity to play soccer and develop related skill sets from a young age. The Houston branch offers programs in Humble, Kingwood, and the Atascocita area in NE Houston.
Of course, unlike other soccer academies you may have heard of, Villarreal CF is not another franchise. They have a well-defined path and program that helps their players to achieve the highest level of skills and gameplay, while the coaches focus on putting their players first, at the center of the game.
If you're new to Villarreal, or to soccer, it's easy to signup for tryouts. There's no cost to register, and the form only requests basic contact information, as well as details about any previous experience with the soccer club. Now, about these other announcements I mentioned - let's dig into those.
The first thing you should know is that summer camp is coming - and it's wonderful.
The summer soccer club camp is happening from May 30th - June 4th, in Humble, Texas, for players aged 5 - 14. Kids will learn a lot about teamwork and their teammates, but they will also learn the Spanish methodology, culture, and way of playing soccer, from Villarreal Academy Club Coaches.
Though the camp runs for several days, if your kids cannot attend the full event, they may still be able to register for one or more individual days. Please remember that all players should bring their own soccer cleats, indoor soccer shoes, shin guards, and a water bottle, as well as their own lunches.
Now that we've done all the regular announcements - there's one left, and it's going to blow the minds of two lucky players.
Instead of just training locally in Texas, the Villarreal Academy is going to send two players to Spain, where they can learn from one of the world’s top teams and training academies. These lucky players will spend a full week training, playing, and traveling with Villarreal CF, who are also known to their fans as the “Yellow Submarine.”
All of these opportunities, from playing on a team and attending a summer camp to spending a week in Spain with the Yellow Submarine, are the kind of opportunities that change lives.
