New book, “You Are Powerful,” helps people cope with COVID, while providing peace of mind with 365 high vibrational
affirmations to state during meditation.
How often do you hear how powerful you are? Most people don't even think about the statement, nor are given daily reminders. For years, I texted hundreds of my family and friends one by one short meditations or the statement "YOU ARE POWERFUL" in all caps to get their day started. I may not have always received a reply to confirm they read the message, but I definitely would hear from them if they didn't receive their text everyday. This is when I knew just how impactful those words were, which motivated me to release a full book. My name is Sedrick A. Keeler, author of "You Are Powerful," a book that consists of 365 daily meditations to help people practice mental fitness through mindfulness all year long. In addition to having over ten years of experience in the education industry, I am known as an accomplished actor, director, writer and playwright of over 50 theatrical productions. I am the host of the FM radio's most popular and exciting urban talk program called "The Conscious Mindset," where I connect community leaders and mentor in several leadership programs in Houston, TX.
It's evident that these are difficult days we live in with the traumatic spread of COVID-19. This pandemic has inflicted a mental strain on people everywhere around the world making additional obstacles hard on the mind and corrosive to the spirit. Since May is the month of Mental Health Awareness, I wanted show how meditation can sharpen your attention and increase resiliency to stress. In lieu of the statewide social distancing ordnance, many people are not able to leave the house or see their families. This book offer ways to help people cope with this time of vulnerability and make the most of this present moment. Readers will learn how to focus on simple, clear meditations, so that the mind and body confidently agree on the outcomes of the future. It will increase your focus, strengthen your commitment, and motivate you to accomplish your goals.
"You Are Powerful" released on May 12, 2020, where I hosted a virtual book launch with live readings presented by Student Body President of the University of Texas School of Law Anthony Collier, business innovation strategist Ebony L. Noir, and licensed clinician Jere'My Rankins. Each speaker read a meditation from book that resonated with them and explained its meaning from their expertise. The event also included performances by singer Alexis Finley, who opened up with "I Gotta Find Peace of Mind" by Lauryn Hill and closed out with original song "Recovery.' The launch was curated by Ciara Suesberry of the Berry Dynamic Agency with over 24K viewers.
