No one should be alone in their fight against cancer, which is why Prostaid Calgary holds monthly live meetings for the spouses and caregivers of prostate cancer patients.
The physical, mental, and emotional toll that prostate cancer can take on those battling it is immense. Perhaps just as stressful are the requirements to support and nurture those individuals, and yet spouses and caregivers are often lacking in support. Prostaid Calgary hopes to change all that, and this April, they want to hear from you during their monthly live meeting.

Prostaid hosts these meetings in order to correct a long-standing imbalance in accessibility of information regarding prostate cancer and related topics. Recently, the US-based National Institute of Health reported that spouses often suffer severe emotional distress after a diagnosis, and yet receive, on average, less support than their husbands by a significant margin.
Fear, uncertainty, and hopelessness are all commonly reported among the spouses and caregivers of cancer patients, but Prostaid Calgary wants to make sure you are not fighting this battle alone. Join them for a live discussion of topics relevant to prostate cancer treatment and become part of a growing community.
Next month’s meeting will be held on April 16th, and ahead of the date, the organization will be sharing resources regarding their previous meeting which took place in March, for free on their website. These resources include a newsletter discussing upcoming events in the community and recent advancements in cancer treatment, along with a recap of Chelsea Anderson’s presentation on couple’s counselling during cancer treatment.
The speaker for April’s meeting has yet to be announced, though the organization typically hosts knowledgeable experts across a wide range of disciplines. In March, Anderson explored ways to prevent strain on marital relationships during the extremely fraught and exhausting treatment process, with other speakers from months prior sharing treatment innovations,
If you are unable to attend the monthly meeting in April, you can still find abundant resources, including video seminars, testing information, and more on the Prostaid website.
Celebrating 30 years of service to the Calgary community, Brad Sterling, Prostaid President, stated, “Our objective is to assist and support patients, families and friends by informing, empathizing and reassuring men on their journey with prostate cancer. By sharing our experiences with our own cancer we lift our spirits and strengthen our resolve to fight for quality of life and a cure.”
