The newly launched competition is part of the Rethink Urban Design platform, which provides a creative outlet for you to potentially earn a revenue by selling your design ideas. The platform offers this by taking your existing design and applying it to a lot of land so your idea can be realized.
Rethink Urban Designs says that aside from the social media platform Pinterest, you may be unable to visualize the future home designs you want to see. The company adds that as you may be aware, many old homes are not properly taken care of and new designs do not have the visibility required to be implemented.
But the platform seeks to overcome this problem by providing a valid place for you and your designs to gain the visibility you require. Whether you design as a hobby, produce side ideas separate to your work, or have a senior project in mind, there is space for all your ideas.
It says sustainable housing solutions should be tools that solve important housing issues including the fact many homes are outdated with the average home being 70 years old, most homes offer limited parking options and lack driveways, which can make transport storage difficult.
In addition, it says many housing options are socially non-inclusive meaning existing structures do not reflect or enable the social habits of people today. Furthermore, housing tends to be energy inefficient. If you have ideas or solutions to the problems described, you should consider entering the competition.
A spokesperson said: “Our event will feature three full days of ceremonies, keynote speakers, and various ways to interact with the participants all streamed to the public using a combination of Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch depending on the viewing experience desired.”
“Participants may join with a team or use our Slack channels to find a team to work with,” they added.
