Keep Workplace Social Distancing Protocols With Contact Alert Wearable Bands

Oct 30, 2020

Keep your facility safe with these new wearable social distancing wristbands that alert users who violate protocols and store data for contact tracing.

One thing that the current global crisis has taught us is to be creative so we can rise above the challenges that it presents.

Distancing Technologies has demonstrated this by designing wearable bands that promote distancing awareness, as well as facilitate tracking and tracing. The UK-based company offers both bluetooth (DT Contact) and UWB (dPods) versions of their innovative social distancing wristbands.

The new products aim to enable your business or organisation to operate with an added layer of protection in the midst of the pandemic. The devices are suitable for use in various settings, including academic facilities; hospitality, events, and exhibitions; workplace and manufacturing environments; and outdoors.

The company recommends issuing the distancing bands to individuals upon entry to your premises. While in use, the bands release vibration and LED signals when the set social distancing protocols have been violated.

The distancing bands are equipped with the capacity to internally store data, such as the ID, date, time and contact length with the other wristbands. Each unit bears a unique serial number, which is assigned through the user’s log-in or sign-up data.

The data remains on the device and can be retrieved any time within 30 days. If during this period, one of the users exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 or other contagious diseases, the data can be accessed and all users who were in close proximity can be notified.

After use, the distancing bands can be sanitised using regular disinfectant and antibacterial products, as they are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance.

The devices work independently from smartphones and do not need to be connected to an app to operate. They also do not transmit data via GPS or wifi.

Explaining how the technology works, the company states, “Communication is peer to peer between devices using radio frequency protocols. This means social distancing can be promoted between users and data can be quickly exchanged.”

Providing peace of mind to users, Distancing Technologies notes, “Data logged in the distancing bands does not track geo locations so your movements are secure. Our data allows GDPR compliant contact tracing when activated by a user reporting COVID-19 or other virus symptoms.”
