This narrative will represent a return to Kristy Woodson Harvey’s roots, weaving a story set in her home state of North Carolina. The story centers around a fictionalized version of the summer camp that Harvey spent time at as a child, acting as the set piece for a story of love, loss, and friendship.

In the story, June Moore, the owner of the camp, struggles to keep the gates open as personal troubles overwhelm the dedication she has towards the camp she has built. However, when a group of former campers - now grown - reunite upon hearing about the camp’s imminent closure, a ray of hope appears for June. Together, the characters must navigate their individual problems while also fighting to save the camp they all care for so deeply.

This new novel of Harvey's is shaping up to be a can't-miss release. It is already making a splash among advance readers, with many praising the novel's characteristic wit, charm, and warmth.

One early review stated, “It’s hard to come down from the euphoria of reading this awesome Southern Women’s Fiction story. It’s simply the best Women’s Fiction I’ve read this year. The completeness of the characterization of each of the cast members; the rich, descriptive narrative that took me there alongside them; the emotional buildup I felt as the reader in each person’s life because they seemed so real to me; it has everything I look for in an extraordinary book.”

The release-day event in Nantucket, MA will feature Harvey speaking on her influences, her process, and on the importance of Southern Fiction alongside fellow author Elin Hilderbrand. You can attend the event for free, and signed copies of “The Summer Of Songbirds” will be available for purchase. Seating will be first-come, first-served.
