According to Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts a German craftsman developed a way to make fine narrow saw blades in the late 1500s. Boulle, a French workman, developed a frame to hold these blades in order to cut intricate designs. The frame was called a Buhl saw and looks similar to today's fret and coping saws. It made the cutting of intricate designs popular throughout Europe.
Last Piece of the Puzzle is a small family-owned and operated business that hand makes each order it receives. It began with a scroll-saw, a sheet of wood an 6 bottles of paint. Within a short period of time their business grew tremendously requiring them to purchase a laser cutter, employ more people and move into a full-time work shop.
The Personalized Name Puzzles are available with one, two or three name lines. They can be custom colored and also come with design options including a squirrel, dinosaur, sailboat, airplane, butterfly & flowers, a truck, space themed pictures and fairy tale dreams images.
When a customer places an order the product goes through a hands-on process. A piece of wood is sanded for cutting, the custom puzzle template is created and the sanded wood is run through the laser cutter, the puzzle is sanded again to smooth the edges, painters paint each piece by hand and the puzzle is laid out and given an initial glaze before gluing.
Once the initial glaze is dry the 1/4 inch front and backer are glued together, pegs are placed into each piece that requires them, quality control inspects the puzzle for design and color accuracy, the completed puzzle is glazed and allowed to set for 24 hours, quality control checks for defects by assembling and reassembling the puzzle and finally the finished product is packaged and shipped.
Last Piece of the Puzzle makes puzzles not only for decoration but for learning, play and education and has over 2,200 5 star reviews online.
