The center also serves Albany Park, Belmont Cragin, Riverdale, Ashburn, Dunning, and surrounding communities.

Tranquil Cloud Temple offers two courses for Qigong beginners this year. One is Spontaneous Qigong, which introduces students to the style, flow, and purpose of the Qigong discipline. Students will practice as a group and will be trained on Qigong movements and meditation exercises.

As class instructor, Tranquil Cloud Temple founder Dr. Tony D’Angelo will spontaneously determine the exercises to be taught in each class according to the energy of the attending students.

Dr. D’Angelo draws from his extensive knowledge of the Qigong discipline, which has thousands of associated forms, movements, and meditation styles. In addition to basic exercises, Spontaneous Qigong classes also train students on energy awareness and achieving a state of “no mind” or “empty mind.”

Spontaneous Qigong class meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Tranquil Cloud Temple.

Another beginner Qigong class offered by the center is Eight Brocade Qigong. One of the oldest and most widely practiced forms of Qigong, Eight Brocade Qigong features eight different exercises, each focusing on a different part of the body and qi meridian.

Students of Eight Brocade Qigong will learn basic Qigong terminology, postures, and movements, as well as the Eight Brocades forms, which include sitting and standing postures. The standing postures are particularly known to be effective in strengthening arm and leg muscles, and stimulating the flow of the qi through the person’s arms and legs.

Eight Brocade Qigong is a 6 week class with one hour per week sessions.

In addition to beginner Qigong classes, Tranquil Cloud Temple also offers Medicinal Qigong services and classes. Medicinal Qigong is a Taoist holistic healthcare system that involves exercises, meditation, diet, and other practices tailored to each patient’s unique needs and health condition.

Dr. D’Angelo is an ordained Taoist priest and Doctor of Medical Qigong who earned his degree from the International Institute of Medical Qigong in Palm Desert, California.
