In this episode of Awareness Addicts, we’re going to learn to celebrate failure. It is failure that precedes success. You need to get comfortable with failure … even celebrate it. Are you willing to experience some discomfort? Because the payoff could be HUGE! Using self-reflection and examination is what will ultimately lead to your success.
In the new episode of Awareness Addicts, Dr. Gala Gorman, the show’s host, discusses the importance of failure … why it shouldn’t be feared, and instead, how to turn failure into an opportunity for success.
As Gorman says, “If you’re like most humans, failing is discouraged. We would try to hide it, or worse, avoid it by not trying. But, we’re going to learn to celebrate failure. It is failure that precedes growth and development … and success. As you develop awareness, you’re going to have ideas that call you to bigger and better things. If you’re willing to experience some discomfort, the payoff could be HUGE!”
In this episode, listeners will:
-Focus on dreams and desires … and become aware of opportunities
-Understand why trying something new produces fear
-Learn what it takes to become proficient in a new activity or hobby
In a recent article in the Harvard Business Review, failure was highlighted. Specifically, how to learn from failures.
“Once a failure has been detected, it’s essential to go beyond the obvious and superficial reasons for it to understand the root causes. This requires the discipline—better yet, the enthusiasm—to use sophisticated analysis to ensure that the right lessons are learned and the right remedies are employed. The job of leaders is to see that their organizations don’t just move on after a failure but stop to dig in and discover the wisdom contained in it.”
As Gorman points out, whether the failure is happening in one’s personal life or at the business level, the fundamentals are the same.
“Why is failure analysis often shortchanged? Because examining our failures in depth is emotionally unpleasant and can chip away at our self-esteem. Left to our own devices, most of us will speed through or avoid failure analysis altogether.”
If setting a goal or making a change is not working, there is some underlying cause that will continue sabotaging the process. Doing this sort of self-reflection and examination is what will ultimately lead to success.
This show was created to provide Sage Advice for taking inspired action. Awareness is the key. With this key, it’s easier to navigate in the human world with all of its detours. As awareness is developed, along with it comes an intimate understanding of self. And, that enhanced sense of awareness introduces some new information into the mix. With that new knowledge or outside the box experience, there is a spark that adds to life.
The show’s host, Dr. Gala Gorman, is a holistic life coach and minister. She is the author of the Spiritual ApproachTM Series of books focused on practical spirituality. As an entrepreneur … mediator, publisher and, formerly, accounting firm partner, her experiences helped shape the creation of the show. As a change facilitator, she ignites transformation in businesses, families, students, clients and, especially, within herself.
When asked about why she created the show, Gorman said: “Developing awareness is what’s worked for me. In fact, I’m a bit of an Awareness Addict. And, I’m hoping listeners will become addicted too.”
Gorman has hopes that the show will save listeners from wasting time feeling confused and stuck. As fellow Awareness Addicts, she believes they’ll be alive, alert, awake and aware of life’s possibilities. As listeners practice what she talks about on the show to develop awareness, they’ll build muscles around their awareness skills. The idea is to close the gap so they can switch into awareness much more quickly … applying awareness and understanding before getting into something they regret.
