Hendassa, a fitness apparel company, has released their "Staying Strong for Danita" Leukemia Awareness T-shirt to support a military family in which the wife, Danita, was just diagnosed with leukemia. The company announced that 100 percent of profits made by Hendassa are being used to support Danita's treatments.

Leukemia is cancer that originates in blood-forming tissue according to Cancer Treatment Centers of America. It is characterized by the uncontrolled growth of blood cells, usually white blood cells, in the bone marrow that crowd out and replace normal blood and marrow cells.
About 1,237,824 people live with or are in remission from a blood cancer. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society reports that approximately every 3 minutes one person in the United States is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. In 2016 it is estimated that 171,550 new cases will be diagnosed and account for 10.2 percent of cancers diagnosed this year.

Both being in the military, Danita and her husband Jared have been married for 6 months. They created Hendassa together because they love fitness and everything about it. In late October Danita received a diagnosis of leukemia. The doctors told the couple that her cancer is treatable, and she has started receiving chemotherapy treatments. Danita has spent years preparing and training for a career in the military, Jared said, and now due to her medical condition that will no longer be possible. He says that this trial is going to take more than physical strength for her.
"Overcoming cancer is no easy thing," he said. "But she also has to overcome the emotional battle of having her dreams slip away from her as she goes through this tough time. She is the love of my life and means the world to me."
