Lewisville health insurance is cheaper, and millions of Americans are overjoyed

May 25, 2021

Rick Thornton, a Lewisville health insurance agent, says Joe Biden’s commitment to ensuring affordable coverage for everyone is paying off as an increasing number of Americans share their stories.

Lewisville health insurance saw a massive and long-overdue spike in new Affordable Care Act enrollments recently as more than 1 million Americans who were previously uninsured or underinsured now have proper coverage for themselves and family members. Since the American Rescue Plan was signed into law three months ago, many of those individuals have been sharing their heartfelt stories of finally being able to afford health care with the media.

A recent NBC Article highlighted 16 people, eight of whom have signed up for ACA coverage or changed their health insurance in Lewisville plans since April 1 for greater savings. One lady, Jodi Smith, 62, paid $400 to $600 in monthly premiums for her ACA plans since she retired from a county government job 10 years ago. With the new subsidies, she now pays $175 per month. In another story, Sheryl Hagen was earning $13.25 an hour but couldn’t afford the $300 premium for her employer’s plan. She also broke her ribs and was saddled with a $1,300 hospital bill. After signing up for a marketplace plan, she paid $73 per month. With the new plan, she reapplied, and her premium was reduced to $0.

Rick Thornton, a Lewisville health insurance agent said the new subsidies have been a welcome lifeline as they provide tax credits to a larger number of enrollees and help address the sudden ballooning costs some saw when their annual incomes varied. Since April 1, the median deductible for Americans signing up for new coverage has dropped by nearly 90%. The current administration is looking at making its lower American Rescue Plan premiums permanent. Thornton says Americans should take this news seriously and find a way to gain coverage before the August 15 deadline.
