Link Automotive offers tips on how to tell if scraping a curb hurt your vehicle. The issue could just be outward appearance, but there could be actual problems that need fixed.

Link Automotive, our auto shop based in Charleston, WV offers a wide selection of different services ranging from oil changes, to tire repairs, to tune-ups. We specialize in care for most cars, trucks, and SUVs. Today’s blog will be focused on tips for how to tell if hitting a curb has actually damaged your car.

You just turned a corner and hit a curb. You get out to assess the potential damage and see a pretty scraped-up looking hubcap, complete with dents and marks. Here is how to know if hitting this curb has caused any actual damage to your car that would require work done.

The good news is that there a very good chance that your problems are purely cosmetic, which means that something as simple as replacing the scraped hubcap, or bending it back in place if your hubcap is metal, could be the only problem there is to it. However, there is also a possibility that there could be more damage than just how it looks, including some more serious damage as well.

This resulting damage could include things like wheel alignment issues, problems with your suspension, damage to rods, or transmission issues in FWD cars. If one of these issues occurs from your curb scraping incident, it is important that it gets taken care of fairly quickly. Watch for things like your car pulling to one side while driving straight ahead, an unusual amount of bouncing in your vehicle, or a rattling-type sound. If you feel like there might be something off while driving your car or you just feel like you need to get it checked out to feel safe and sure, we can do that for you here at Link Automotive with a convenient digital vehicle inspection.
