Maria Luchsinger, is the author of the first children’s book written to explain chiropractic care, Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Chiropractor. Sammy introduces young children to chiropractic care and explains it so well that adults learn how it works as well.
Maria Luchsinger, author and teacher, in Washington State is the author of the first children’s book about Chiropractic care. In 2013, Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Chiropractor was judged Outstanding at the Writer’s Digest 21st Annual Self-Published Book Awards. It has continued to appear on the Amazon best seller list for chiropractic books throughout the years. Go to https://www.Sammythecentipede.com to find it along with the whole library of Sammy books.
She wrote it because one of her daughters had trouble breathing and chiropractic care really helped. There was no book available at the time and so she decided to write one herself. She couldn’t publish it until 2013 because “in the 90’s we didn’t have the publishing options we have today”.
One of the reasons the book is so valuable is because it has been reviewed by chiropractors themselves and many use it to educate their patients. Parents love the clear explanation. Children love Sammy for his rainbow colors and the way he talks to them as his friend.
The book has been sold at Palmer College of Chiropractic and is used and recommended by Dr. Claudia Anrig, a pediatric chiropractor, in Dynamic Chiropractic Magazine. The book also has appeared in Massage Magazine, ChiroEco.com and Plexus, the Washington State Chiropractic Magazine.
Dr. Eric Fassler says:
“I loved this beautiful book. It’s informative, vibrant, cheerful. The writing is upbeat and great for all my little patients. I’m a family practice doctor that sees children. I love having teaching materials that help my patients feel comfortable. This is just the ticket.“
Dr. David J. Mayes says:
“I just wanted you to know that I read Sammy to my four-year old son that night after meeting you at the conference. And he LOVED it! Thank you for contributing to chiropractic.”
