Medsential’s Covid-19 and antibody test
Picture viruses like COVID-19 as a bunch of bad guys invading your body.
Once the alarm bells sounds, two teams of superheroes - which we call antibodies - mobilize to fight off the invaders.
Superhero team 1 - called Immunoglobulin M, or IgM, goes out after viral exposure about 3 - 7 days after being exposed to the virus.
Then around 2 weeks of 15 - 30 days, team 2, Immunoglobulin G, or IgG, takes over the fight - and, more importantly, continues to stand guard after, and as long as they're there, you'll be safe from that particular bad guy.
A PCR nasal swab tests for active viral infection, and just tells you if you're currently sick.
Our antibody test looks at both teams, so we can tell if you've been exposed, are currently sick, or already had the infection; and, best of all, we can tell if you've got enough of team 2 in place to keep you safe from spreading the virus, or getting reinfected.
U.S.-based Medsential is now offering COVID-19 IgM/IgG rapid antibody tests to point of care providers. With Covid cases reaching an all-time high, Medsential is able to supply high volumes of these antibody tests. Medsential is an FDA-registered medical device company and is operating in compliance with the FDA.
"We are thrilled to have a point of care rapid antibody test now available. We know hospitals, medical offices, and other point of care providers have been eager to make these available to their patients to provide peace of mind," said Doris Hui, CEO of Medsential. "We have several national clients who will distribute these tests on a national level; with so many Covid hotspots, this option will be greatly welcomed."
"Our rapid test kits show three levels of antibody build-up, unlike many other antibody tests that show only one," said Hui. "This allows for more accurate identification of community spread and exposure to coronavirus. Health care providers can assess the exposure of their staff and their patients to better protect vulnerable populations."
