Are you the next Francis Ford Coppola? Or maybe you are more of a Sofia Coppola? Or maybe you see yourself more as a Wes Anderson, a Jane Campion, a Spike Lee, a Chloé Zhao? Whoever your film idol is - and whatever your aesthetic vision - Visionaries Film Festival is welcoming your unique storytelling style.

The international film festival, which runs annually in Temecula, is being held this year from the 16th to 18th of September. The festival is now taking submissions from high school and college students who are passionate about filmmaking and looking to get their first screening in the US festival circuit.

With the regular deadline of April 15, 2022 quickly approaching, the festival’s organizers are now encouraging you to complete your short film, or even begin it, as the case may be. While films must have been completed after the 1st of January 2020, there is no premiere policy for submission.

Visionaries Film Festival prides itself on their support for up-and-coming film directors. Over the last three years since the festival's inception, they have given a number of promising young filmmakers, just like you, their point of entry into the industry.

Unlike other larger-scale international film festivals, Visionaries also embraces a mantra of diversity and equality. Their low entry fees mean that the cost is not prohibitive if you are a high school or college student, or if you are entering in the general competition. In antithesis to the predominant whitewashing of mainstream cinema, the festival also gives a particularly warm welcome to intersectional storytellers.

The competition includes a range of specific categories, including Best Microfilm, and you can nominate the most suitable category for your piece.

As the festival continues to grow, they also attract more sponsors. Currently supporting the program are NJPAC, Livingston Public Library, the West Essex Tribune, Patch and more. Alongside submissions, the festival is also currently open to more sponsors, with generous packages available for interested businesses in Los Angeles.

Visionaries Film Festival was founded in 2019 by Vihan Khanna when he was in his junior year of film studies at Montclair State University. The festival is particularly excited to announce this year’s advisory board, which includes Curran Bhatia, a 4-time Emmy® nominated former producer at HBO.

A spokesperson for the film festival said, “Visionaries Film Festival is the best film festival for young filmmakers. Our program favors submissions by high school and college students as well as recent college graduates, but we also accept submissions from professionals.”

If you have a beautiful, unique vision to share, the time to do so is now - with Visionaries Film Festival.
