Booking Your 2025 Meeting

New booking slots are currently available for all but one day in January, as well as throughout February and March 2025. The centre is managed by the Stanwix Community Association (SCA), a registered charity that serves as a hub for the local community. It is frequently used for continuing education and professional development for first responders and care workers, and hosts council surgeries and exhibitions, among other community-focused activities.

A Beautiful Refurbishment

Originally a classroom at Stanwix School, the space has been refurbished into a bright, airy, welcoming community meeting room, measuring about 7 by 9 meters. The room features cupboards along both window walls, each covered with cushioned seating. If you don't need to use all of the tables and chairs, you can conveniently store them in the cupboards.

Full Amenities

Near the entrance, you'll find a cloakroom, two toilets, and a small, newly refitted kitchen equipped with all the necessary facilities for storing and reheating food and drinks. Besides the serving hatch, you'll have full use of

A Storied Location

Located above part of the largest Roman cavalry fort on Hadrian’s Wall, the centre sits in the heart of the historic village of Stanwix. Recently, the venue hosted an event for residents showcasing rare finds from a nearby Roman archaeological dig. It's also just near the historical church of St. Michael's and Bitts Park, making it a good space for orienteering events, community fayres, and community litter pick-ups.

“After all our hard work a few years ago, the Stanwix Community Centre is now a lovely venue for activities,” an SCA representative said. “Although we offer this facility primarily to the residents, families, and businesses of Stanwix, we welcome enquiries and bookings from individuals, groups, and businesses from the whole of the Carlisle area.”
