While lasers obviously aren't new, these classes are - and they're designed to take you from zero experience to working comfortably in a clinic, in practically no time at all. You don't need any previous experience, post-secondary education, or even time off to sit in a class every day.
All you really need is an internet connection, and a desire to learn. It's a bit complicated - these techniques used to be restricted to only plastic surgeons and dermatologists, but it's nothing that you can't handle with the right training.
Here's how it works.
First, you'll need to sign up with the Dermysk Medical Aesthetics Academy - they're the only Canadian aesthetics school I could find offering a program like this. While that limits your options a bit, they're a fantastic school with amazing reviews, and locations from coast to coast, so you're never too far from a training center.
Once you're registered for a course, you'll get access to all the online training materials, which you can work on any time and complete at your own pace, whether that's laser-fast, or maple syrup slow. None of it is too difficult, but be sure to pay attention, because this is your new career we're talking about.
Besides, you'll need to know these things for the next portion of the course - the real world, hands-on, practical training. This is the part where you can get messy, make mistakes, and have fun - or whatever it is that Miss Frizzle used to say. During this week of hands-on training, you will need to attend regular classes, but they're the best kind you'll ever take.
Forget about books and calculators, you'll be working with razors, lasers, and... I wish there was another thing that rhymed. The point is, when you reach the hands-on training, that's what it is - practical, and hands-on. You'll work with simulated clients as well as real ones, to get actual experience with each of the tools and procedures you've been studying.
When you're done with the week of hands-on work, you're done. You'll be fully certified in your new career, just like that. Well, fully certified at the level you studied at anyways.
In the Basic course, you'll learn everything you need to get started either working in a clinic or running your own. Graduation from the Basic program will also allow you to access Advanced training, which includes more complex procedures like laser gynecology and Cool Sculpting. Of course, you don't need this Advanced course to begin working in a MedSpa, it's just a bonus if you want to have more experience, more skills, and certification in the coolest techniques legally allowed for non-healthcare professionals.
Each course also includes material about proper hygiene and safety in a MedSpa environment, the health and safety considerations of these techniques, and proven business strategies specific to medical aesthetician clinics.
