Nano Hearing Aids has announced a suite of new longevity features, including new dehumidifying case technology, that they are now implementing in their over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids.
Nano Hearing Aids’ CEO Ryan F. Zackon said that a chief concern of the brand is that while ‘out of the box’ hearing aids—including their own models—can deliver on exceptional sound quality and clarity, regrettably hearing aids are often impacted by wear and tear quite quickly; a problem they are committed to resolving with their new longevity measures.

As Mr Zackon explained, improper cleaning and care—and exposure to moisture and damp environments—is linked to muffled sounds, persistent whistling or feedback, lower volume, inconsistent performance, battery drain, and ultimately device failure. However, the challenge is that hearing aids are typically used vigorously, including in spaces like bathrooms and gyms, where moisture levels are high.
As such, they have developed a built-in dehumidifying technology which has been debuted in one of their newest models, their First Ear Plus ITE aids. All of Nano’s OTC hearing aids come with a small, portable, and magnetic charging case, but in this model, the charging case is now also fitted with a powerful dehumidifier.
What this means is that every time a wearer charges their aids they will also be dehumidifying them; thereby improving their ability to not only meet the five-year average lifespan of hearing aids but exceed it.
As Ryan F. Zackon said, “Our new case’s built-in dehumidifier protects the First Ear Plus ITE Hearing Aids from moisture, prolonging their life and ensuring optimal performance.”
More simply, the brand has also created new cleaning and care kits for their full range of OTC hearing aids, ensuring that wearers can improve both the sound quality their aids deliver and their longevity.
These kits feature several sets of replacement wax guards or ear tips, depending on the fit of the aids; an important part that is recommended to be changed monthly to ensure that there is no build-up of wax, which can damage the aids. Nano’s kits also contain cleaning brushes that have been developed specifically for the aid type; and for their BTE or behind-the-ear styles, they include extra 2b tubes.
Although Nano Hearing Aids’ models start at $297, and they price them to be as affordable as possible, they still know that for many wearers—especially retirees and seniors—they are an investment, which is why they are pleased to be developing several new longevity measures.
