Small businesses are getting a helping hand by outsourcing marketing and other roles – here’s why that’s important.
For small businesses doing everything in-house is usually not an option – or at least, not a cost-effective one. Thankfully, today, they have other options, like outsourcing. And outsourcing is used for anything from social media marketing – which is typically when you hire a member of the chronically online club to make you go viral on TikTok – to other more shall we say serious stuff like accounting and logistics. Or even your entire marketing process – because let’s face it, marketing is not getting any easier.
But what are the most common roles small businesses outsource, and why? That’s why we’re here – we’re gonna look at some 2024 outsourcing trends.
Well, according to recent data, 83% of organizations used outsourcing to reduce operational costs – so there’s the who and why. We’re done here.
Okay, not so fast. Here’s what businesses are outsourcing the most. A Clutch survey found that of the SMBs who are actively looking to outsource processes, the majority – 27% – were looking to outsource marketing. Unsurprising as it’s time-consuming, becoming more complex by the year, and requires a specialized in-house team if you want it done right.
Next on the list was IT with 22% and then design with 21% – which again doesn’t come as a surprise, since the cost to have these teams in-house is just too high for most small businesses.
After all, the main reason anyone outsources – and especially small businesses – is to cut costs. But that’s not the only benefit of outsourcing. Let’s take marketing, for example...
When you're the owner of a small business, you know your company inside and out. The trick is in gaining exposure and ensuring your target market also knows what you’re about so they can develop into loyal customers.
Of course, most people are not marketing experts, so finding the right strategy and creating all the marketing materials will soon prove both a waste of time and money.
But, when you outsource marketing to an agency or even a business management expert, they can do all the heavy lifting: strategic planning, content marketing, website design, SEO, research, and much more.
Small and local businesses vary widely in size, organizational structure, management style, and growth capacity, and therefore require customized business management guidance. When you work with an expert, they will understand your pain points and strategize operational plans aimed at streamlining business efficiencies.
With professional marketing – from social media posts and website blogs to press releases and videos – small businesses can get the kind of exposure that is hard to achieve with a small in-house team. Outsourcing marketing efforts to actual marketing experts can boost awareness of your business, educate audiences, establish credibility, and entrench brand recognition.
