The number of cases of self-harm, depression, and suicide in individuals under 18 is skyrocketing, and it is often triggered by peer pressure, coupled with the fact that the school system is ill-equipped to deal with mental health issues.
NSCA chaplains are trained to deal with the issues that the youth face today and help them overcome their struggles with prayer and self-reflection. The effectiveness of their training has made chaplains an integral part of organizations such as the US military.
The NSCA is looking for candidates like you who feel the same desire to serve the youth and lead them down the right path. Their training programs are designed to accommodate all candidates, from experienced ordained ministers to college students who want to get a head start on their careers.
There are three levels for the NSCA chaplaincy training. Level 1 is for ordained ministers, Level 2 is for individuals with experience working with youth groups, and Level 3 is for candidates without work experience.
The first level requires almost no training and focuses more on placement and re-certification. Meanwhile, the second level is a 48-hour course that runs for eight weeks, while the third level is a one-year course.
The 48-hour and one-year courses are accredited by Oklahoma Christian University, so they count toward your college degree. The 48-hour course is equivalent to one college credit or three CEU credits. Participants of the one-year chaplaincy training program get one-year college credit, and they can start earning a teacher’s salary as a chaplain even if they’re still in school.
