Questions To Ask Brooklyn Moving Companies For Apartments With No Elevators

Jun 23, 2023

Did you know that almost 50% of people think moving is the most stressful thing to ever happen to them? Obviously, they haven’t seen 127 Hours. If you’re dreading your upcoming move, Movers.com is here to help!

Apparently, 45% of Americans think moving is more stressful than getting divorced, getting married, and having a child. And it's no different across the pond - 47% of Brits said that moving is the most stressful event in life.

Now, as someone who's moved six, no... seven, yes, seven times, I will admit, it is stressful. Would I call it MOST stressful? I probably wouldn't go that far - but I can see how for so many people it's literally the worst!

If you're one of them, let me help you. The first thing you wanna do, before you hire a moving company, is evaluate your options. There's no need to hire the first company you find on Google. Take the time to really investigate them BEFORE you give them your stuff and your money.

To help you do that, Movers.com, one of the largest networks of licensed and insured moving companies, has compiled a guide called “Important Questions to Ask Moving Companies Before You Hire Them”. They even made a printable Moving Company Questionnaire, which you can use to evaluate all the moving companies you contacted and determine which one is the most reliable, affordable, and best suits your relocation plans.

If you wanna skip ahead and get your questionnaire right now, just visit https://www.movers.com/moving-guides/questions-to-ask-your-moving-company-before-you-hire-them.html

If you'd like to hear more from yours truly, well... awesome! I'd love to give you a few tips straight from the experts.

Number 1 - always check how much experience the movers have! If you're looking at a new company, it's harder to find reviews and complaints from prior customers. However, when you go with an experienced company, there's a paper trail - you can easily find testimonials and proof of any legal disputes (but let's hope you don't!).

Number 2 - ask the moving company for references. Any business that doesn't have anything to hide will be glad to point you to previous customers and give you any proof you need of good service. If they seem dodgy... well, maybe keep looking. You can also check their reputation through the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or similar organizations.

Number 3 - make hella sure they're licensed and insured. Dealing with uninsured and unlicensed companies can be a disaster - from legal issues to full-on scams.

If you wanna know what the remaining questions are, check out the guide - I don't want to give everything away!

I will say one more thing though, keep in mind that a reputable moving company will always have questions for you. For example, they may ask what items need to be moved, whether or not you will be needing packing services, and whether your building has stairs (that costs extra, btw).

There's more in the guide, obviously. So definitely check it out, and while you're there, you can easily find moving companies, too.

With over 700 licensed and insured movers now part of the Movers.com network, you can find movers for any type of relocation, including movers for apartments with no elevator.

They really do want to make this moving thing less stressful for people. Huh!
